SCM Preparation for Hasbro Co. Presentation

In MBA 518, you have a hasbro case to work on. In the supply chain area, you may want to pay attention to this following area in the Hasbro Co.

  • Introduction of OM/SCM: this topic discussed (1) the input-output and the production processes, (2) Supply Chain analysis, and (3) productivity and utilization. You can summarize the transformation of hasbro's basic operation (from a toy maker to an toy, board game and entertainment company). The related concepts that you can find from Hasbro's financial reports are like asset productivity and labor productivity if they are available.
  • Introduction of Six Sigma: You probably will not find any public information in this topic if Hasbro ever launched six-sigma projects. Well, you can still try.
  • Project Management: Hasbro is no longer a just toy manufacturer. Their new products often include game production, toy, and film affiliation with studios. So the new product's launch become a complex project to manage. You might be able to give one or two examples about how Hasbro do their new product projects.
  • Forecasting: As Al Verrecchia mentioned in his speech, toy business has difficulty to do the forecast. The forecasting results are used in sourcing, capacity setting, logistics, pricing, channel management when you also consider the launch time, sales season...
  • Logistics and Transportation: You can find the evolution of Hasbro's supply chain as the production moves to Asia. How would it have impacted the management of logisitics and transportation?
  • Procurement: This topic include the supplier selection, forecasting and order placement, oursourcing/in-house production discussion inside the Hasbro.
  • Inventory Management: Most Hasbro's products have only a very short sales season (Al mentioned some products are selling all year round). How would Hasbro make their stocking decision? Note that the stocking decision is closely related to the forecasting, order placed and the channel agreement that Hasbro has with the retailers.
  • Service Management: this topic is less relevant to Hasbro.
