Japan Want to Lift Inflation But It May Have Serious Side Effects

(5/24/2013) Japan's new government has tried to boost economy by infusing a lot of money in the monetary market. Man-made inflation and depreciation of Yen to stimulate export are its major goals. But this approach may have serious side effects. The stock market crash two days ago and the spiking interest rate of 10-year JGB (Japanese Government Bond) are signs of the danger of this approach and the turbulence may not stay in Japan only.

How Kodak Missed Digital Cameras and Fell

(5/23/2013) This is a great story about how Kodak missed the market of digital camera and fell even though it was the first company spotted that opportunity. It made me realize that how difficult for us to face our own weakest link and live in denial.

3D Printer Can Save Life

(5/23/2013) 3D printers cannot only print guns, now it can save life too. If the nanotechnology progresses further, maybe miniature 3D printer can print stent for heart attack patients.

A Saks-Neiman Marcus Merger?

(5/23/2013) Will two high-end department stores, Saks Fifth Ave and Neiman Marcus, become one? Fierce competition makes merger look a good solution, but the brand management for two separate groups of consumers and store open-or-close after the merger is not a easy job.

Things Come Apart

(5/12/2013) This reminds me of my elder brother. The electronic gadgets he had when we were kids always come apart. Later on, he could always put the parts back but did not guarantee it always work in the same way. I think this news and the website provide pretty good exercises for MRP (manufacturing resource planning).

Will It Vine Around the World like Twitter?

(5/11/2013) Have you tried Vine app? It is a long-photo (less than 6 seconds) social sharing application launched by Twitter on 1/24/2013 and it has been the #1 application on iTune in April 9 2013. What can we do with a six-second video, which is in fact a gif based long photo? Wired.com thinks it will become HUGE in the future though there is still not a huge vine video hit really. You can read about Vine here where you can see how it works.

Entertainment Subscription Overload

(5/10/2013) Do you have a Netflix account? How about Hulu plus? Pandora? Spotify? How much do you pay per month for these entertainment subscriptions? PBS has an interesting report about subscription overload, very insightful. I think the late comers of entertain subscription services may need to find another revenue model.

Windows 8 Will Be A History Soon

(5/7/2013) Windows 8 will be a history sooner than you think! Microsoft announced that they will redesign Windows 8 and change the unpopular 'new interfaces.' Is it a surprise? It is just six months after Windows 8's launch and terrible PC's sales is just a sign confirming that Windows 8 is not what consumers want. If Windows 8 is a weapon Microsoft relies on to fight against Apple's iPad, does it mean that Microsoft still has no product (forget about the terrible Surface) in the tablet market?
