(7/25/2013) It looks like many consumers are willing to risk $35 for a new solution. All Chromecast pre-order are gone. Netflix was enforced to terminate a promotion deal related to Chromecast because many people want that Netflix deal.

Google's Strong Competitor of Apple's iTV
(7/24/2013) Before Apple's iTV makes a strong hold in the video streaming market for it's TV dream, Google launches a very attractive solution for the consumers: Chromecase. It is a $35 device which can be connected to almost any device: "Android tablets and smartphones, iPads, iPhones, Macs, PCs and the Chromebook Pixel," which is much better than the picky iTV that only works on Apple's product. I love open platform.

Apple's iWatch or Google Glass?
(2/13/2013) Even though it is still a rumor, Bloomberg says Apple is really serious about iWatch to compete with Google Glass. Which one will you pick to be a trend rider? Which one do you think will work better for innovation early adopters? I will pick Google Glass. Look at the video recording function of both gadgets. Google Glass will give you a more reasonable and stable video recording. Plus, if you want to embed voice command on this gadget (like Apple Siri or Google Now), a pair of glasses is much closer to your ear to extend James Bond's earplug. Wearing an iWatch? You will have to keep your hand straight and still to record a video and you will need to raise your hand every time you talk. What is your pick?
Look at what Google just released about its Glass.

Mourn for A Short-Lived Gadget.
(12/13/2012) If we only count from 1999's ebook reader device (excluding the failed Apple Newton), eBook reader has lived for just 13 years and start dying. It just cannot compete with multifunction touch-screen tablet. I will say it prematurely: "It had a good life."

Android's Product Rollover Dilemma
(12/4/2012) I found this is a very article to talk about product improvement and model generation rollover problem in new product innovation. Except the maker of Galaxy -- Samsung, other makers of Android smartphones cannot launch a product that can really compete with Apple's iPhone neck to neck. The strategy of these makers is to launch a lot of Android phones more frequently. (In Taiwan, we use a term "機海戰術", indicating the makers just make a lot of models.) This is partially due to lack of negotiation power with wireless service provider, hence the makers need to differentiate their own product with more models for various carriers. (Apple has one model for all carriers.) For android's users, it triggers more frequent and quicker "buyer's regret" because their new phone will be 'dated' in several months. (Apple renews their iPhone roughly every year.) Another bad impact for Android makers is they will need to provide more software updates for their various models with various versions of Android OS. Do you see the headache of Android makers?

New digital camera - Lytro
New era of photographing - Lytro. From now on, will everybody be a professional photographer? The technology is called "'ight field" that allow users to 'refocus' after the picture is taken.

Virus for Medical Devices
(10/17/2012) Before this news report, I have never thought of this potential problem - Computer viruses invade into medical devices. Imagine that someone's life support now is on a medical device that is not updated for a long time. If it gets a virus, will a computer virus in this case really kill a patient? Or if I know someone is wearing a WiFi connected device, is it possible that I may use a Trojan virus to attack that device and kill that patient? It is more like a SiFi.
(10/21/2012) It looks like killing someone from a distance is not a SiFi, it can be a reality. From a heart defibrillator to a insulin pump, any medical device that can be remotely controlled is subject to hacking. Remember the Matrix? Cypher in the Matrix kills Neo and Trinity's teammates by just pulling the plugs...

Microsoft Surface Tablet
(10/16/2012) Can Microsoft make a successful Surface Tablet launch? Can $499 for 32GB table attractive enough for consumers? Can Microsoft make an application network prosperous enough to attract enough app developers and users to stay in this new platform? I wishfully hope so. Don't make the same stupid mistake as in the mobile platform again.
Boxee? Is it a good innovation?
(10/16/2012) From HuffingtonPost.com:
"Boxee, the streaming media company with the funnest name this side of Roku, has unveiled its latest Internet-connected player: It's called the Boxee TV, and it's a $99 box that contains an antenna to watch broadcast high-definition television and a DVR system that gives you unlimited online storage of your recordings. It is, according to Boxee CEO Avner Ronen, the first DVR system that has no storage limits whatsoever."
Do you think it is a good innovation? Will it really kill the Cable? My first wonder is how much bandwidth will be used sending contents up to server and back to the local user sites? Hmm.... Someone needs to do some calculation here. The Internet Service Provider won't be happy then.

iPhone's Biggest Trouble.
Story 1:
(9/24/2012) Because it is iPhone 5, every flaws is magnified. In just several days after a new launch...
(9/28/2012) Apple finally apologizes for its terrible map application on iOS 6.
Wrote Cook, "While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app."Why there is no old map system?
It looks like that Apple will not re-introduce its old map app that utilizes google's map technology. Ego? or that is really the best for Apple?
By the way, iPhone 5's Map is now on the "16 Epic Product Fails" on the Huffingtonpost.com. It is like Lady Gaga's song landing on #1 of Billboards in the first week.
(12/10/2012) Australia police warns the usage of iPhone map can be life threatening. However, at this moment, Apple still has no intention to drop its notorious Apple Map application on iPhone. It's probably for its self-pride. The followings are some examples of how bad and how wrong Apple map application is. On November 28, 2012, the Apple map supervisor was fired according to Bloomberg's report.
(12/24/2012) Map failure is not just on iPhone. Here are some other historical map flops.
(12/13/2012) Three month after Apple's iOS 6 removed google's map from its platform, Google makes a come back. A new google map application will come back to Apple iOS platform, and it is more powerful - a much needed turn-by-turn instruction. Hallelujah!
(9/25/2013) It's been around a year, right? and Apple is still struggling with its map issue? It may guide you to drive through airport runway.... Bummer!
